We believe that the main oven element would need to be checked as it is the most likely.

A few days ago our oven started playing up. turn it on and it would take a second or two to react and turn on then the other day nothing. The temp control light come on but nothing from the fan or element on any setting on the selector nob. having taken the back off i have noticed a blackened terminal (and has melted the plastic cover for it) on what appears to be the thermal cut out? please advise.

If the thermal cutout has gone you will need to replace and check the temperature of the oven is cycling correctly and all the fans are working, if it’s the terminal block check for any other signs of damage before replacing.

Answer this question

I have a stoves 900 EMA dual oven / grill. 1. The top fully variable dual ceramic maxigrill is always full on or off. i.e. no variable control. 2. the main oven heats up but then cuts out after approx. 45 mins. 3. Top oven appears to work fine. Q. Is this a multiply component problem or more likely one of the above?

When grilling some cookers do not vary the grill heat just like toasters they come on full and cherry red. For more information on your oven see our video: How to diagnose problems with your oven http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/1/2145
