How to Find Your Dishwasher Model Number

Your dishwasher model number will come in handy when trying to diagnose a problem with your appliance or replace parts. Having this to hand will ensure you are able to access the correct information faster and get the correct replacement parts to fit your machine. Read on to find out where to find a dishwasher model number and what to do if the model number has rubbed off.

Why is it important to know my dishwasher model number?

If your dishwasher has developed a fault and you need to replace a part, knowing your model number information will help you find the correct spare to fit your appliance. Many spare parts look very similar but they do vary in size and shape so although a part may look like it will fit your appliance, it might not actually be suitable.

Your model number is also important for the safety of your dishwasher. Manufacturers sometimes recall appliances due to safety concerns. When they do this, they will release a series of model numbers so you can check if yours has been recalled. Having your model number to hand will mean you can check if yours has been affected and find out what to do next. Our video on appliance recalls explains more about safety issues, where you can find appliance recalls and what it means for those affected.

What you're looking for

Your appliance model number will be located on a rating plate or a sticker that contains information about your appliance.

The Rating Plate That Contains Information About The Dishwasher

Where to find it

Door frame

First, you'll need to open the dishwasher door and check inside the door frame and around the door itself.

Side and back

If you can't find it here, check the side and back of the appliance.

Built in dishwashers

If your dishwasher is built-in, you may need to remove the cupboard door to find the model number. This is because the model number is sometimes placed on the front of the machine before the cupboard door is added so it's worth giving this a try.

Checking The Front Of The Dishwasher For The Rating Plate

Model number out of view

If your model number is tucked away or out of view, try taking a photo of it with your phone with the flash on or shining a torch so you can see the information you need. This will save you having to pull the machine out.

When you have located your dishwasher model number, you'll then need to know what to look for. The format of the model number and the product or serial number varies depending on the manufacturer of the appliance. The model number will typically be a combination of letters and numbers and also contain special characters such as a dash or a slash. The model number will often be indicated with "Model" or "Mod" at front of it.
