How to Find Your Washer's Model Number

When you need to find out what is wrong with your washing machine or need to fix or replace parts, it's important to have your model number to hand so you get the correct information and spares to fit your appliance make and model. In this article, we're going to talk you through where to find the model number on your washing machine.

Why is it important to know the model number?

If your washing machine develops a fault and needs a part replacing, having your model number to hand will help you find the correct one. Many spare parts look very similar but they do vary in size and shape so although a part may look like it will fit your machine, it might not be suitable.

Another reason it's important to know your appliance model number is for the safety of your machine. Manufacturers sometimes recall appliances due to safety concerns. When they do this, they will release a series of model numbers so you can check if yours has been recalled. Knowing your model number will mean you can check if your appliance has been affected and if it needs to be replaced. Our video on appliance recalls explains more about these and where you can find them.

The model number will typically be a combination of letters and numbers and also contain special characters such as a dash or a slash. The model number will often be indicated with "Model" or "Mod" in front of it.
