How to Fit Vax VEC21 Pet Essentials Vacuum Filters

Gradually with every use you’ll find that your vacuum cleaner will lose its suction. Many think that changing the bag is the only way to improve suction performance however it isn’t.

The filters in your vacuum become clogged and blocked with each round of vacuuming and if not cleaned your cleaner will lose suction and even leave a nasty smell after each vacuuming cycle.

We have a range of filter kits for many different brands of cleaners - however in this guide we are going to show you how to replace the post motor filter and HEPA filter with mesh shroud for your Vax VEC21 Pet Essential vacuum cleaner.

If your cleaner is not the same, don’t fret because the process should be very similar for other makes and models and if you are unsure don’t forget to refer back to your user manual.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

  What You Will Need:

  Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

  The Post Motor Filter

To begin, open the cover on the back - from here you can simply remove the filter, it’ll also come with the holder.

To separate the filter from the holder simply push the filter filter out - from here you can insert the new filter into the existing holder and install it back into your vacuum cleaner. Replace the cover and that is one of the filters fitted.

  The HEPA Filter

A slightly longer process however just as simple, begin by removing the dust canister, you need to open the lid and you can do this by pressing the two little buttons on the front.

With the top removed you want to now take out the old mesh shroud - simply twist and pull and it’ll come away and repeat for the inner HEPA filter.

With both parts of the filter removed you can now insert the new HEPA and mesh shroud. Once in place you can refit the machine back together and bingo! You’re done.

Replacing the filters regularly will help maintain a better performance when vacuuming throughout your home. The process highlighted in this guide for the Vax VEC21 should be very similar for other makes and models. However if you are unsure, always refer to your user manual.
