How to fix a Universal Fridge or Freezer Door Handle

Not only is it a nuisance when your fridge or freezer door handle breaks, but it can also cause further damage to your appliance. On top of making the fridge freezer more difficult to open, it can lead to the door seal getting damaged as a result of needing to grip the side of the door to open it instead.

Because of this, your fridge or freezer door handle will need replacing as soon as possible when it is damaged or missing. Fortunately, we have a universal fridge and freezer door handle to do just the trick. Read on to learn how to fit it for yourself.

How to fit a universal fridge or freezer door handle step by step

Let's dive right in! To learn how to replace your fridge or freezer door handle with a universal one, watch the video or follow the step by step guide below.

Step 1: Make sure the handle will fit your appliance

Before purchasing a replacement universal handle, it's important to make sure it will fit on your appliance. Measure the distance between the two screw holes where the handle fits on your fridge freezer. Then, when buying a replacement, check the details to make sure it fits within these measurements.

The Two Screw Holes Where The Door Handle Fits On The Fridge Freezer

If you cannot find a universal handle that fits your appliance and the handle for your fridge freezer's make is no longer available, don't worry. You can simply drill a small hole into the side of the door at the correct measurement to fit a universal handle. The screws are self-tapping, so you should still be able to screw the handle into place using the new hole.

Step 2: Screw the handle into place

Using a screwdriver, secure the handle onto your fridge or freezer with the two screws that come with it.

Step 3: Fit the screw covers

Then place the screw covers over the screw gaps. They should simply slot into place.
