How to Replace a Door Catch and Striker Pin on a Rangemaster Cooker

Have you snapped the pin that holds the oven door shut or find the door keeps popping back open during cooking? If it’s become difficult to close; the problem is most likely caused by the door catch or the striker pin.

Here in this guide we help direct you to an easy way to replace these parts and get your oven working correctly on your Rangemaster cooker again.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

• Door Catch or Striker
• Screwdriver
• Pliers

Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.

To access the door catch you'll first need to remove the door panel; this can be done by unscrewing two screws, one at the top and one at the bottom.

Now remove the door and separate the two parts to access the door catch, this can be done by removing the two screws at the top and two at the bottom. With the door separated you will n ow be able to replace the faulty parts (striker pin and/or catch). The door catch can now be found on the inner door and to remove this simply unscrew the two screws holding it in place.

With your new door catch into position, make sure the holes line up and it screws to the door.

Please Note: The holes on the door catch will not come threaded, however, once you fix the screw in they will cut their own thread.

Once the new door catch is fixed properly, assemble and refit the door.

Replacing the door striker pin is very straightforward. Using a pair of pliers, loosen the lock nut and unscrew the striker pin. Now fit the new striker pin by hand and tighten the locking nut with the pliers.

Please Note: The striker pin is adjustable so you can change the pin length, make sure it engages properly with the door catch and the door does not "pop" open when hot.
