If the dryer is heating but the drum is not spinning your clothes are not going to be drying correctly - if this is the case you could find yourself wearing some damp clothes.
This guide is available to direct you into just how simple the process of changing the belt on your Beko DRVT61W dryer is. This process will save you money and help you prolong the life of your tumble dryer.
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair and due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury.
Step 2 - Creating Space
To begin you need to first remove the top cover of the tumble dryer - you can do this by undoing the three screws at the back. With the top removed you will now be able to see the belt.
In the Beko DRVT61W dryer, the drum is supported by the back panel so for you to slip the belt in place the back panel will need to be loosened.
Step 3 - Removing the Back Panel & Duct Panel
When removing the back panel you want to remove all the screws except two, you don’t want to remove the back plate you just want to loosen it - this will give the drum some movement.
Now before you remove the screws from the back plate you want to unscrew the duct panel and remove it. With the screws removed and the back panel now has some movement we can now begin the repair.
You want to first slip the belt over the front of the drum between the drum and the front drum support. Be careful as there are lots of sharp edges, therefore, we do recommend wearing a pair of heavy duty gloves to help prevent any possible injury.
Step 4 - Fitting the Belt
Now with the belt in position, you can use it as a handle to help reset the drum, also ensure you give the drum a spin to make sure it spins freely.
eSpares Top Tip: If it doesn't spin freely it may be rubbing on the front to the machine or the door seal.
With the belt in place and it spins freely you can now re-screw the back panel back together, however, make sure before you do that there are no electrical connections that have become disconnected.
Step 5 - Dryer Reassembly
Coming to the end of the repair you need to now fix the belt onto the motor shaft - now this can be rather difficult however an…
eSpares Top Tip: If you’re having trouble attaching the belt to the motor shaft, grab yourself an 11 mm socket with an extension shaft which you can use to lever the belt onto the shaft itself, so put the socket over the motor shaft and then spin whilst pushing the belt onto the shaft.You're then free to remove the socket leaving the belt on the motor shaft itself.
Once the new belt is in position you can now reattach the vent duct, put the top back on and that's it you’re done.
In honesty compared to other brands this repair is fair easier and less of a headache. Understanding how to perform this repair can not only save you money but also prolong the lifespan of your dryer.
