Without a fully operating door lock on your washing machine your washer is no longer useful - whether the door lock is sticking or not locking you may find that a replacement machine is the next step.

It is worth noting that this guide helps you to replace the door from the front. Some appliances allow you to replace the lock from the top.

What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Remove the Retaining Band
The first thing you need to do is remove the outer retaining band - located on the door seal, using a flat head screwdriver remove the retaining band. With the band out of the way now you will need to unhook the door seal from the front panel. Push inside the drum to hold it in position.
Step 3 - A Door Unhinged
Next you will need to unscrew the screws that hold the door lock in place. With the screws removed you can now unhook the door lock from the front panel and just ease it away.
Step 4 - Removing the Splash Protection
The washing machine has a splash protection - this will need to be replaced on your new door lock. To do this you can simply disconnect the electrical connectors from the old one and replace with your new one.
Step 5 - Assembling the Door
With the new lock in place time to reattach your splash protector, once fitted you can hook it back into the front panel and screw it in place. You can then release the seal from the drum and attach it to the front panel and then reattach your retaining band.
There you have it! You’ve replaced the door lock on your washing machine, you can now finally lock your washer and get back to washing that large pile of laundry.
