How to Replace the Flymo Switch Box on a Flymo Turbo Compact 330

If the switchbox or levers are faulty you can either spend the money to have them replaced, purchase a new lawnmower however both of these options can be quite costly therefore we have a better solution.

Getting the spare parts and replacing it yourself is super easy and very cost effective. Now on some machines you may be able to replace either the levers or the on/off switch. However with the Flymo Turbo Compact 330; the switchbox comes as an assembly therefore we are going to show you how to replace the assembly.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

  What You Will Need:

  Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair and due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury.

Step 2 - Removing the Switchbox

A very simple process - to start you will need to remove the existing switchbox unit from the handle and this can be done by removing the two torx screws on the back.

Once removed you will be able to take the switch assembly off the handle, now it’ll still be connected to the motor and we’ll now change that.

Step 3 - Unplugging the Motor

First you will need to remove the cover and collection box from the mower - put these to the side for the time being. To remove the motor cover you’ll just need to undo the two screws holding it in place. Once the cover is to the side you can follow the cable from the switchbox, unclipping it from its holdings all the way to the motor.

Here you’ll see that it’ll be connected via spade connectors into the motor, all you need to do is remove these and then replace them with the new connectors from the new switchbox. Once done just secure the wire back into position and screw the new switchbox into place on the handle,

Step 4 - Putting Everything Back As You Found it

All the hard work is now done, finally you now just need to refit the motor cover, grass collection box and the cover of the mower and you're all done.

There we have it, a nice and simple fix to prolong the life of your Flymo lawnmower. For other care and maintenance guide see our other articles in our advice centre.
