How to Replace the Fuel Line on a Qualcast Classic Petrol Lawnmower

If you notice a leak coming from your Qualcast classic petrol lawnmower's fuel line, it's absolutely vital that you replace the fuel line as soon as possible to keep your lawnmower working safely. Fortunately, a lawnmower fuel line is actually fairly easy to replace, which is why we're here to show you how to replace the fuel line on a Qualcast classic petrol lawnmower step by step. Remember, always make sure your petrol lawnmower is fully switched off before carrying out any work. As you will also be working around fuel, it's important to make sure you don't have any matches, lighters or other sources of flame within your vicinity. We also recommend that you disengage the spark plug when doing any work on a petrol lawnmower.

To begin, it's a good idea to remove the fuel tank first to make the following process easier. Before starting, make sure you have your jerry can and some tissues at the ready for spillages. Then, making sure the fuel cap is nice and tight on the fuel tank, unscrew the fuel tank from the mower. Keep a good hold on the tank with your spare hand as you unscrew to ensure it doesn't drop.

With the tank unscrewed, it will still be connected by the fuel line. Keeping the fuel line attached for now, lower the fuel tank so that it's lower than the end of the fuel line. This will prevent any spillages when you remove the fuel line from the mower.

Then, using your pliers, remove the small jubilee clip that keeps the fuel line firmly attached to the lawnmower.

You can then pull the fuel line away from the lawnmower. When doing this, make sure you keep the disconnected end of the fuel line raised above the tank to prevent unnecessary spillages.

You can now go ahead and drain the fuel tank. Place the end of the fuel line into the jerry can (lower than the fuel tank) and drain out the fuel until the tank is empty. Remember to wipe up any spillages with your kitchen towel.

With the tank fully emptied, it's time to remove the old fuel line. To do that, you will need to remove the clip that keeps the line connected to the tank. This will be secured by a flathead screw, so you can go ahead and unscrew this with your flathead screwdriver.

Once unscrewed, you can pull the old fuel line away, fully separating it from the fuel tank.

Now you can attach your new fuel line! To do this, simply slot it firmly onto the fuel tank in the same place you removed the old fuel line.

Once the fuel line is fully in place, go ahead and retighten the clip over the end of the line to ensure it is securely fitted onto the fuel tank.

Then fit the other end of the new line onto the lawnmower via the carburettor.

And finally, finish securing the fuel line by returning the jubilee clip onto the end. This will keep it locked firmly in place.

With the fuel line fully fitted, you can go ahead and screw your fuel tank back into place on the mower. And there you have it! All there is to replacing the fuel line on a Qualcast classic petrol lawnmower. Your mower should now be leak-free and working safely once more.
