How to Replace the Heater on a Tumble Dryer (Beko)

If your tumble dryer is making the usual noises but does not heat the problem could be a faulty heater or thermostat.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

  What You Will Need:

  Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair and due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury.

Step 2 - Removing Heater Cover

First thing first, to access the heater we need to remove the heater cowl at the back by undoing the screws holding it in place.

Once the cover has been removed, you’ll see the heater.

Step 3 - Removing Old Heater

It’s commonly known for the tumble dryer to overheat, and there are two main reasons for this; it's either a blocked filter which stops the air circulating around the machine or the machine has been turned off in the middle of a cycle. If stopped early what happens is that heat still rises out from the heater for a moment causing the thermostat to trip.

Now it is possible to reset the thermostat by pressing down the little button in the centre, where you should hear a satisfying click, so before you replace your heater make sure you've done all that first.

Now according to the heater being replaced in our video, the elements in the heater is damaged so the complete unit will need replacing.

Removing the old heater is pretty simple, all it requires is to unscrew the screws holding the heater in place, disconnect the electrical connectors using a small flathead screwdriver to press down the tab before levering it out.

Step 4 - Fitting New Heater

There are three tabs on the new heater, which correspond to tabs on the back of the dryer. To attach reconnect the heater to the dryer supporting tabs and connected the electrical connector and refit the mounting screws.

Finally, with the mounting screws back into the position we can refit the heater cowl/cover.
