Steam Cleaner Safety Valve - Karcher

The safety lock on your Karcher steam cleaner contains a valve which prevents it from being opened when under pressure - protecting you from potentially being scalded. It's vital that this lock is always in perfect working order - so if yours is faulty, damaged or stuck you will need to replace it.

If you do need to replace the safety lock, but are unsure where to start, there’s no need to panic. We’ll talk you through how to successfully replace the lock without damaging your steam cleaner.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

• New Safety Valve/Lock

• Screwdrivers

• Small Hammer (Optional)

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

If the lock is stuck and the cap turns freely even when there is no pressure you will need to break off the cap from the valve.

Either using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully prise the cap away from the base - or carefully strike the cap a ‘glancing blow’ to fracture its base and lift off the cap.

Then remove the spring and clutch before pushing a small screwdriver or Allan key down the hole in the valve to return the piston, before then refitting the clutch, spring and cap. You can then proceed to unscrew the valve.

Finally screw on the replacement valve after refilling, and you are ready to go.
