How to Replace a Cooker Hood Filter & Lamp

Care and maintenance of your cooker hood is important if you wish to continue to get the best possible performance. Replacing the filters on a regular basis is an essential aspect of this maintenance, to help ensure smells are removed from your kitchen after cooking. If your problem is that the bulb has blown in your cooker hood, then don’t worry - this is a common issue that can easily be resolved.

If you need to replace the filter or bulb but are unsure where to start, there’s no need to panic. We’ll talk you through how to successfully replace the filter and light bulb without any worry.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please make sure that you have switched your appliance off at the mains before starting your repair.

Step 2 - Remove The Cover

Here goes then…we need to get in the cooker hood, so you need to open up the hood. To do this you may need to turn a catches (that locks when turned 90 degrees) or on some models slide a catch - and you can carefully remove the filter cover.

Step 2 - Replace The Bulb

Time for the bulb to go now! Right then, all you need to do is simply unscrew the old bulb - and you can then just screw in the new bulb if required.

Step 3 - Replace The Filter

Goodbye grease filter…to remove this paper filter you need to take out the spring holder, and this will mean that you can gently slide the filter out. You can now place the new filter inside and fit the spring holder.

Step 4 - Fit The Cover And Lock In Place

Well, there you go…you have been able to replace the lamp and grease filter on your cooker hood! All that is left to do now is to replace the cooker hood cover and lock the cover to secure it in place.

You can now be confident that your cooker hood is removing bad smells from your kitchen effectively, and that you have light when using your cooker hood - all because you have fixed both of these parts  all by yourself (with a little help from eSpares of course!)
