How to fix an E11 Error on a Hoover Washer Dryer

An E11 error code on a Hoover washing machine will indicate that you have a fault with the drying sensor. 

If the drying sensor is damaged or faulty then you will find yourself with a washer dryer with won’t dry your clothes after they have been washed. So unless you are doing some light reading - you’re currently faced with a E11 error code.

Following our guide we’ll run through just how simple replacing the sensor is. From removing the top panel to fitting the new part and even closing it all up. Fixing up your washer dryer will give you back the ability to wash and dry your clothes once again.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair

To begin you’ll need to access the inside of the appliance to access the dryer sensor. To do this you will need to remove the top of the appliance.

Start by undoing the three screws at the back - once the screws have been removed you can pull the top back about half an inch and it will then be free to lift off. Now you should be able to see the dryer sensor.

Did you know: Sometimes the problem isn't with the sensor itself, but actually with the wires which lead to it especially if they're under tension as they can break.

If this is the case, you will need to repair the wires however if doing this please make sure they're well supported and not too taut.

However, if the problem is with the sensor, continue reading to see just how easy it is to replace. With the top of the appliance is out of the way, see the electrical connection and unclip this, now using a bolt driver undo the two screws which hold it in place.

Now you’re almost at the finish line however before replacing the sensor it is worth noting that the new one will not come with the seal on the inside. So make sure you remove the seal from the old sensor and put it on the new one before replacing it back into the machine.

With the old sensor removed and the new one in place, re-screw in the screws, don’t forget to also reconnect the electrical connector. With that all done you are now free to refit the top panel of the appliance and screw it into place.
