Pressure Washer Producing Low Pressure
Pressure washers are an excellent cleaning solution for all your outdoor cleaning needs, using high pressure to force any grime or dirt off the surface without breaking a sweat! The higher the pressure the tougher the cleaning jobs they can tackle. However, if your washer is losing pressure, you would be struggling to get any cleaning done.
We have investigated the most common cause as to why your pressure washer could be losing pressure and hopefully we have identified the fault you are being faced with.
Spill Valve
If you’ve checked your pressure washer for leaks, tried different spray lances and the washer still doesn’t correctly deliver the right pressure, the problem may be due to a faulty or stuck spill valve. The spill valve controls the pressure the water produces and depending on the pressure in the pump area, it will identify if the motor should run or shut off into standby mode when not cleaning.
The valve can leak if ruptured or even jam and if the spring pressure changes due to any damage, it may shut the machine off before the correct pressure is delivered causing a pulsing effect.
Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
To diagnose the issue the first thing to look out for:
- Is there any leakage from the valve itself.
- The next step is to remove the valve and examine for damages.
- And finally, replace if required.
