      THE DOOR LOCK SYMBOL ON MY HOTPOINT WMD 962 WASHING MACHINE IS PERMANENTLY ON. I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, BY PULLING A GREEN ROD. IVE CHECKED THE FILTER WHICH IS CLEAR & IVE TURNED THE MACHINE ON & OFF AT THE MAINS BUT THE DOOR LOCK REMAINS ON.

        The fault may be a faulty door switch or a problem causing the machine to lock the door. If the machine recognised a fault and locked the door it would normally give a fault code. If this is not the case then try a new lock.
