We have an FP580 with liquidizer in which my wife chops seeds and nuts. The drive to the knives has just failed due to failure of the female-left-hand-threaded nut in this coupling and the distortion of the broad washer behind it.
It's a crap design since the drive is not at all positive and has a tiny diameter, but is changing this part the best solution? (and why didn't you put this paragraph first?)

To chop seeds and nuts you should use a mill attachment as the blades are likely to be shorter and less likely to be damaged by the nuts. You can search ' Kenwood Mill' to identify suitable products.
