What is the difference between a left and right hand hinge spring holder, as they both look identical. I know that they have L and R stamped on them but can't tell the difference otherwise - can you help? How do they connect to the spring and brake rope.

They are different part numbers and listed as left and right by the manufacturer, you would need to remove the side panel to gain access to the rope and brake.
