I have removed the drum from my Zanussi zwt71201washer dryer with the intention of replaceing the bearings but it appears that the outer drum is welded, does this mean I need to replace the whole drum or can the bearings be removed another way

The bearing would indeed be welded inside the drum, therefore cannot be removed. You would be required to replace the complete drum.
