It may sound a bit daft but I just want to know why the beaters/ ough hooks etc all have the little metal ring and two crimped parts on the shaft? I'm doing a design project and need to find out about the design and how it's made. Hope you guys can help

Sorry if this is one of those pain in the a*se questions, having worked in customer service I know that feeling only to well. Cheers Kris
