Kenwood A901 Gearbox Grease

The gearbox in my machine is absolutely full of grease. The mastic sealant between the two halves of the gearbox casing was still adhering to the join in the casing giving the impression the two sections were screwed together before the grease went in. Presumably it was initially filled through the plugged hole on the bottom surface under pressure. How therefore does this grease go in since there is no gasket?

As grease has a high viscosity it is possible to spread it into both halves of the gearbox casing like buttering toast with a flat blade or knife. The grease should then stay in place as you turn the one case over and immediately push onto the other.
