my grill has stopped working, i am assuming the gril element needs replacing. does this sound right to you?
i have a belling farmhouse 930. The rest of the cooker is working fine. My grill stopped heating, although when i switch the grill on i can hear it is on, but does not heat up at all. My initial thought is to replace the grill element. But is there a possibility it could be the thermostat, i am unsure if the thermostat was to break it would affect the whole cooker or as the grill is seperate from the 2 ovens the grill would have its own thermostat. I am trying to sort myself and was wondering if you could give any possible insight.

Hi, it could be either. A thermostat failing can manifest itself through either the element not heating up at all, or heating up far too much. Sometimes, if a grill element is broken, there'll be visible damage to the pins - take out your element to see if there's any damage. If the pins are slightly dirty, you could try cleaning them with a dry cloth. If you can't see any damage, try testing the element through a test meter if you have one - if there's very little or no reading, the element is broken; if there is a normal reading, it's probable it's your thermostat. I hope this helps, and remember, remember to unplug your cooker before you start testing this stuff out!
