As long as the earth is connected to the tag on the bracket it does not matter if the other two connections are reversed.

Answer this question

New Element/existing element has three terminals. 2x power and a third which must be earth. No earth cable visible within cooker or appears to have been connected to old element. Perhaps this has fallen off the old element or do I only need 2x live power cables? Perhaps earth terminal is for other installations. Thank you.

The element will be earthed through the connection bolts on the rear wall of the cooker. In some appliances they may have an additional earth connection but this is not normally necessary.

If you can see the screw heads on either side of the bracket on the back wall of the grill the element is likely to be removed without taking the back off the appliance.

We do not have this information but looking at the element bracket it appears it must be screwed in from the front.

From the images we have it suggests this can be replaced from inside the grill. this can easily be proved by checking the rear bracket has screws that will allow removal without accessing the back.
