Hi. My fridge compressor seems to run for 10 seconds or so, then stop, then start again around 30-40 seconds later. Then repeats this cycle. Could this be the capacitor? 1 Answer
Compressor also becomes very hot after a while. I have measured 240VAC on the compressor terminals at all times. The fan next to the compressor also runs continuously

This is the typical sign of a seized compressor and will require a systems engineer to fit and re gas to replace this part.

This component in a fridge is usually very reliable and unless there is signs of damage or burning it is unlikely to be faulty. If you have a compressor that is not running but makes a slight click when trying to start and another about 5 seconds later every 50 seconds or so, this would indicate a seized compressor and require a refrigeration systems engineer to replace and regas your appliance.
