Safety first!
Remember, always make sure your appliance is switched off and unplugged from the mains before carrying out any work.
Step 1: Access the door lock
The first thing you'll need to do is remove the outer retaining band from the rubber door seal. To do this, work your flathead screwdriver down between the door seal and the outer retaining band around it. Start at the bottom of the band, where the spring can be found...
Then work the screwdriver all the way around the door seal to fully remove the outer retaining band.
Next, fold and push the rubber door seal inside the door frame, as this will give you access to the door lock.
Step 2: Remove the old door lock
Using your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws that hold the door lock in place from the outside of the door frame.
You will then be able to pull the door lock out of the washer's door, but it will still be connected by an electrical connection.
Simply pull the electrical connection off the door lock. With the door lock completely removed, you can discard it and start fitting the new one.
Step 3: Fit the new door lock
To fit your new door lock, first reattach the electrical connection to the new lock.
Then slot the new door lock into place behind the side of the door frame. To secure it, screw it into place with the two screws you removed earlier.
Step 4: Refit the door seal and outer retaining band
With the new lock in place, you can unfold the rubber seal from inside the machine by pulling it back out.
Then work the inner lip of the door seal into place all the way around the door frame.
Work your way around the door frame, fitting the seal's lip into place as you do so. Take your time when you do this, as you'll want to make sure the seal is fitted securely all the way around the frame.
Once the door seal is in place, you can refit the outer retaining band. Work the band into place all the way around the seal, using your flathead screwdriver to work it into place over the seal if necessary.
