Grill Element
If your grill is not working - follow the steps below:
- Rotate the function knob to select the grill – this may activate the thermostat indicator light if fitted on the control panel, it should remain lit until the desired temperature has been reached.
- If you have a separate grill oven then simply activate the grill by turning it on.
Now it’s time to delve a bit deeper and look at the element. Look for visual signs of damage to the heater.

Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
- Locate the element terminal and set the multimeter to a low resistance setting; pop one probe on each terminal
- Measure the reading; there should typically be a resistance between 20 and 100 ohms. If your results are different you’ll need a replacement.

Grill Thermostat
The thermostat is usually located behind the temperature control knob on the fascia plate. If your grill can be used as a top oven it may be controlled by a thermostat.
A grill that doesn't heat or allow the element to glow red when grilling with the door open, may indicate a faulty thermostat.
- Depending on your model a thermostat may be used to cycle the predetermined temperature sent to the grill and oven elements.
- Any hot food or spilt liquids can seep behind the control knob and damage the thermostat.
Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
To inspect the thermostat:
- A faulty thermostat may either turn to full power or not turn on the power and will not regulate at the selected setting.
- Examine the thermostat for any signs of burning or damage to the wires and replace if required.
