Why is My Oven Making a Loud Noise

Have you gone to put your Sunday roast in your oven, only to realise that the appliance is making a great deal of noise when switched on?

There are many causes as to why your oven may be making a racket, and we have investigated and identified the two most common causes which when they falter, may leave your oven with a constant resounding noise.

Using our easy to follow diagnosis we are going to guide you through on how to fix your oven and get delicious meals back on their way to being cooked again.

Circulation Fan

It’s bad enough having to put up with all the clattering of pots and pans while cooking - so working with a rumbling oven won’t comfort your ears.

If the noise begins as you switch your oven on, the most likely cause will be the circulation fan or motor.

Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.

eSpares Top Tip: usually your fan motor will have the fan blades attached so both may be causing the noise.

You will need to visually inspect both parts for any signs of damage or wear.

If you require a replacement you can check out our selection of circulation fans or motors, and also you see our full range of all other cooker related spares on eSpares.

Cooling Fan

If the noise only occurs once the oven has been on for a while, we can speculate that the cooling fan could be at fault.

The cooling motor kicks in when the heat inside the cabinet rises. It then proceeds to help cool down the oven quickly once you've stopped using it.

Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.

Examine the cooling motor and the attached fan by spinning quickly - and replace if required.

The good news is that if you do need to replace it, you can get a replacement right from our range of cooling fans on our site!

You being overwhelmed and all worked up won’t solve the problem, so you can follow our video guide showing you the steps to take to replace your cooling fan.
