Above and below the switch is a raised 'rap' section that holds the switch to the liner when pushed through the hole. To remove use a blunt knife to apply pressure at the top edge to carefully prise it out. Once this edge is out repeat on the bottom edge.
I've ordered a replacement switch, but can't see how to get the old one out. Does it pry out? Thank you for your help.

The light switch has a plastic barbed ridge either side that holds on the lining when in place. To remove gently push the switch body up and using a flat blade prise the lower edge from the lining. Then push down and release the top edge.
LOOKING AT THE REPLACEMENT IT JUST APPEARS TO SLOT IN AND BE RETAINED BY A SERATED SPRING ACTION ON ONE SIDE OF THE PLASTIC HOUSING. IS THIS CORRECT AND IF SO HOW DO I COMPRESS THIS IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE SWITCH ?
- Yes, by looking at the image of the switch, I was able to ascertain that the sprung plastic was at the bottom of switch. I pushed a small butter knife, under the edge of switch, and pushed against the plastic cleat, and using another knife I wedged the switch out a few mm, then just pulled it out with my fingers.
