Universal Cooker Hood Filter Kit

Your kitchen cooker hood extractor fan processes some tough grease and grime - replace your filters regularly to keep it running smoothly. This filter kit is for 60cm models of cooker hood. These filters are cut-to-size to fit your cooker hood with precision.

Kit includes:

  • 1x striped grease filter measuring 114 x 47cm (cut this in half to make 2 grease filters)
  • 1x charcoal filter measuring 57 x 47cm

Instructions for use:

  1. Remove cooker hood grid
  2. Cut new grease filter to size with the black stripes facing inward
  3. Cut charcoal filter to size and lay it behind the grease filter (on the inside)
  4. Put grid back in place
  5. Tip: When removing the old filters wear disposable gloves and have a degreaser to hand. This can be a messy job

Top tips on maintaining your cooker hood:

  • Always use a grease filter, whether it's for recirculating or ducting fumes. This ensures your cooker hood and kitchen is free from grease contamination.
  • In summer, it's best (if possible) to duct the fumes to the outside air. Remove the charcoal filter when doing this.
  • In winter, to avoid losing warm air, use the cooker hood in the recirculating mode. Re-fit the charcoal filter to prevent cooking smells being blown back into the kitchen.
  • NEVER use filters after they have ceased to function efficiently.
  • CHANGE your filters when the stripes become visible. This means the filter has reached saturation and is no longer useful.

  • you dont need carbon with a cooker hood that extracts to the outside. You only need a carbon when you have a recirculating cooker hood. e.g. do you have a grill on the outside of the kitchen wall for the fan? By Russell - cumbria - 21 July 2015
  • Yes I always put both filters in together. When you have a fry up for the family check the filters - these are cheap enough to change before they get too blocked. By Trisha T - Clacton on Sea - 30 July 2013
  • I would say yes, our cooker hood came with both installed. By Bomber - Oxfordshire - 16 November 2010

If your cooker hood is recirculating back into the room you do need a carbon filter.

Answer this question

I purchased a universal cooker hood filter in foam and charcoal. However on removing the old filter there was also a paper filter. I've now sent for the paper one as well. Is this ok to use all three? Ie. Paper first then foam and finally carbon. Thanks.

The paper filters are designed for grease and the foam filter is for absorbing the smells, you would not normally use all 3 so check your user guide for your model to be sure as it depends on whether the hood is venting outside or recirculating.

The paper filters are designed for grease and the foam filter is for absorbing the smells. Not using the grease filter would quickly saturate the foam filter and reduce its efficiency at removing odours from the air.
