The Phillips screws enable you to remove the switch assembly from the handle. How do I undo the two screws that hold the two sections of the switch assembly together to enable me to take out the broken red lever. Theres a star socket on the head 1 Answer

It should be a standard Philips screwdriver to undo the screws in the housing.
Does the mains power cord enter the switch on the same side of the switch as the condenser is wired to?

The small capacitor is fitted across the connections from the motor to help reduce electrical 'noise' being generated from the switch breaking contact with the supply.
