This and most oils produced by Karcher should be suitable for domestic pressure washers. The different grades used refer to the viscosity and temperature range but this will not be a problem on domestic washers.

Stripped this down after replacing the faulty capacitor and thought I would give it a good service, took the head off and all the oil can out, checked, cleaned and have put back together but I need to know the type of oil and where to drain

Secure the motor and pump base vertically and refill with oil the chamber until it is a few millimeters above the 'wobble plate' for the correct level.

  • I found it fairly straightforward. On my model one needs to remove the outer shell (star screwdriver bit) to access the pump housing, which is clad securely in a plastic holder which can be opened by careful leverage of the plastic lugs using a flat screwdriver. The pump itself needs to be secured upright with the water inlet and outlet up and the motor down (I used a clamp with soft pads on a workbench). The four bolts are a bigger star bit. It is worth gradually releasing them in turns, noting the arrangement of the clamps. gently removing this exposes the chamber, which will be filled with sludgy oil if it has not been replaced for a while. Holding the inner components in place tip the waste oil into a container for recycling. Note arrangement of inner components. Clean inner components with lint free cloth and replace. Note that the cogs on the spindle match the part that engages with them. Check and replace any seals if needed. Top up with 15W40 oil so that it covers the wobble plate (the last big washer-like component on the spindle) and a few mils more. Check and replace seal. Replace the piston like assembly. Note that it should only engage in the correct way. Put the bolts back in and engage them a bit at a time. One will need more pressure as that will be the one where the piston engages with the raised part of the plate.
