Tumble Dryer Door Interlock Assembly

If your tumble dryer will not start, yet the relevant lights appear to be lit on the fascia panel, it could be because the door interlock has failed. If the door closes and the wash/dry cycle is selected but still no joy - it may well be time for a new interlock.

Door locks need to be checked on a regular basis to ensure they work correctly. The door interlock is an electronic device that provides a time delay of approximately 2 minutes, once the wash/dry cycle has been completed before the tumble dryer door can be opened.

With help from eSpares, you can soon be back to a safe and fully working tumble dryer again enjoying warm dry clothes again.

  • This part is difficult to get at unless you arms are 5 feet long and matchstick like. more seriously you need to remove at least the top front panel holding the timer. you may just get to it and remove it by a side shift and pull out. Personally I just had to remove the complete front including the bottom panel to remove a few anchor screws, don't be scare though it is very easy, make sure you mark up the wiring for replacement The interlock come out very easy with a side shift first and a gentle tug. I have yet to replace the front panel as Iam only just ordering the part. Looking at the main door panel it is going to be most important to make sure the exhaust pipe is fixed firmly in place both on the front panel and on the outlet at the back. once i attain this it is just a few self tappers to replace and a successful job will be complete. • Standing in front of the machine with the door nearest you and top cover removed, look down from the top at the terminals, the pink/white goes on the left terminal, the brown with the plastic cover goes on the middle terminal, and the grey goes on the right terminal. That's how mine is wired. By GB - Tipton - 12 November 2016

Hi there, I'm afraid we don't have a circuit diagram - unfortunately you must take a note of how the original interlock is wired before de-assembling it! What I can say is that usually the terminals will only fit in one slot on the interlock.

Answer this question

Just ordered this assembly for my Hotpoint TCFM90C6PUK but the video is for a different model where the interlock is behind the control panel. The lock for my dryer is on the LHS in the door recess and has no visible signs of access. Do I need to start removing panels etc?

You are best to remove the left-hand side panel to gain access to the door lock.
