Hi my microwave has developed a fault whereby when turned on it clicks loudly for a few seconds (sounds like a relay clicking) then goes off. Clock and light work. Any clues as to what might be the problem

If there is a loud crackle and it looks like somebody is arc welding in the cavity there is likely to be damage around the waveguide and cover. Clean and repair this. If the magnetron is not heating food we would advise you contact a service engineer as the extra high voltages inside can easily prove fatal if touched.
