I attempted to investigate the fault with a partially broken on/off switch, the machine can still be switched on and off but the on/off button is very lose and seems partially broken or possibly has simply become detached (my wife gives it a hard life). However, I do not seem to be able to get the facia off the upper control panel area such that I can check whether the covering button is actually broken or has simply become detached.

On some Bosch dishwashers as well as the Torx screws around the rim of the control panel there is also one smaller Torx screw on the right side of the door liner wall at the top that has to be removed to release it.
