Answer this question

Because the drum has dropped

Check the drum suspension springs on both sides as one may have broken.

Answer this question

At present I dont really have drum wobble, just a tapping ticking noise that goes on the whole wash and gets smoother ( less loud) as the fast spin runs. When empty if you rock the drum it does it too. The noise seems to come from the bottom area so wondered if it was early stages of these shocks failing. I have read small heavy loads that I do a lot can put a strain on the suspension. Definitely not anything stuck in the drum holes or wires tapping on the outside, but that's what it sounds like

Dampers can develop a little 'play' where there is loose movement for a few millimeters. If this occurs the damper may click as it changes direction of movement and require replacement.

The kit should contain the parts in the attached images (two dampers).

Answer this question

should the two halves of the damper come apart at all when I pull them? Regards Dan

Hi dan, I'm pretty sure the absorber shouldn't freely come apart, but probably will with a good tug.

Answer this question

How do I detach the shock absorber from the drum side of the washing machine. Looks difficult is there a pin I have to knock out or something. regards

Hi dan, there is a plastic retaining pin holding the absorber to the drum. You'll need to clamp the side with the teeth together, then knock the other side of the pin through with a mallet. It's pretty tough, you'll need to give it a good few knocks.

Answer this question

My washing machine bangs and clicks and wobbles with washing in it but is alright without washing in it. I pressume its the dampers that are damaged.I mannaged to unatach the damper ends on the bottom of the washing machine but dont know how to unnatach the ends on the drum how do you do this. Also isn't the middle of the damper supposed to be fixed inside the outer part mine comes apart easily when I pull them

Hi dan, there should be a nut securing the shock absorber at to the bottom of the machine. This can be accessed by tipping the machine on to it's side. Only tip it slightly, as putting it fully on its side can damage the other shock absorbers - maybe have someone hold it up for you. The two parts of the shock absorber should definitely not come apart easily - sounds like any that are doing that need replacing.
