Depending on model some Hotpoint group dryers also use a thermistor, This will have a resistance typically between 6000 and 20,000 ohms.
The heating element of my Creda T620CW will not heat up although it appears undamaged, would replacing the thermostat fix this? 1 Answer

The problem is usually due to the 'cut out thermostat' but both should be replaced at the same time. This could be confirmed if measured using a multimeter like Stock Number ES1741061

Unlikely, if a condenser dryer check the water is getting to the container. For information to diagnose your problem see our video: How to Diagnose Tumble Drier Control and Program Problems www.espares.co.uk/advice/9/2049

These thermostats should be replaced in pairs as one is a recycling thermostat and the other is a once only safety trip.
Dryer switches on runs for about a minute then won't restart, any ideas? This was the problem before I changed the thermostats, one did look to be burnt so I changed them assuming this was the fault.

If it is a condenser dryer check the drain pump is working as this may stop it running. For more information to diagnose your problem see our video: How to Diagnose Tumble Drier Control and Program Problems www.espares.co.uk/advice/9/2049

Tumble dryer not heating up am about to replace thermostats do you have to replace the element at the same time or is there anyway of testing it ? Water light is staying on even after emptying

Check the thermostats measure short circuit, if not replace them and reassemble the dryer before switching on. If the dryer is stopped 'when hot' it can trip and stop heating so allow to run the cool down cycle if the dryer has been run for a few minutes.
