If there is always low pressure and no leaks the problem is likely to be worn seals or a stuck valve.

Answer this question

I went to use my pressure washer today for the first time in a couple of months. When I turned the hose on water poured out of the bottom of the washer and the motor does not run. If you pick the washer up and gently move it it rattles like there is a loose plastic ball inside. Do you know what the issue is please and is it repairable?

The likely cause of leaking is frost damage causing splitting of the cylinder head. Disconnect the power and refit the hoses to identify where it is leaking from.

Answer this question

The washer works fine until trigger is released, then at the moment the spray from the lance stops, the pressure blows back into the supply hosepipe. This has caused the "Tube water intake" to split, and also pop off the casting it connects to. Is there a faulty pressure relief valve, or supply one-way-valve or similar that could cause this ? If so, which parts should I look to replace? Thanks

We would have thought that a failure in the internal valves on the cylinder head would not be able to cause this problem and we would check the water supply pressure as it may be excessive. If you are sure you do not have excessive water pressure start by replacing the cylinder head.

Any leak or damage to a seal in the high pressure area will cause the 'stop' pressure to escape and the motor will restart. Cure any leaks before replacing seals starting with the pump piston seals first.

It will be necessary for you to dismantle and examine the pump assembly to identify where the oil is leaking from to be able to order the damaged part.

It is likely the motor pump has a split and as a result it will not produce enough pressure to shut off.

It may be due to a split input connector see our video: Replacing the inlet and outlet connectors on a Karcher pressure washer http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/8/1166

Any leak from the high pressure side of the washer will cause the motor to pulse. Replacing the cylinder head and seals is the most likely (but not only) reason for this problem.

Answer this question

The red 'O' ring seems to be very thin in comparison to the collar on the hose to trigger gun fitting and there is a lot of movement, is this correct?
