Product Q&A

Ask a Question

My John Lewis JLDWW1205 completes a cycle but ends with cold, wet and not very clean dishes. I've removed the machine's sides and tested the heater at its terminals and get the expected 20-30 Ohms. So I suspect the temperature sensor. My problem is locating, removing and testing the sensor. I can't see anything like it from either side, and wonder where to start?

The sensor is located at the front of the appliance, take the plinth and lower front panel to gain access and test the sensor with a multimeter.

I60 relates to overheating so check the heating element and safety thermostats, test the NTC sensor as it may be poor thermal contact before suspecting anything else.

Answer this question

I have already tested the through heater and resistance is 28.8 ohms, so would appear to be ok. Plus cycle finishes, so think thermostat needs replacing.

Answer this question

I took the chance that it may be the heater element ES544551 and therefore replaced this part. Unfortunately this replacement did not work. Is it likely therefore that the problem could be a faulty Temperature Sensor ? Otherwise could you suggest the most likely problem.

For information on this problem see our diagnosis video: How to Diagnose Dishwasher leaking and heating problems http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/3/2083 It is possible this is faulty but more likely the control board.

The machine uses the same heater and control pcb for both functions. Try replacing the sensor before suspecting the control board.

It is more likely to be a 'dry joint' on the heater relay on the control board. For more information see our video: How to Diagnose Dishwasher leaking and heating problems http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/3/2083

The heater Stock Number: ES544551 is fitted in the base of the machine like the one in our video: How to replace a dishwasher flow-through heater - Gorenje http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/3/1567/how-to-replace-a-dishwasher-flow-through-heat

Answer this question

This is shown in the electrical parts diagram but not shown how it physically attaches to the machine. We think it is fitted to the plastic sump at the bottom of the machine.

The manufacturers information does not show where or how this part is fitted but it does suggest that it may be in the base of the dishwasher connected onto the sump assembly.
